About

About

Surf Life Saving New Zealand is the largest water safety sports organisation in New Zealand, providing an essential community service to all New Zealanders.
The 75 Clubs in nine Districts are affiliated to SLSNZ representing 12,000 members.

SLSNZ is a non-profit community based volunteer organisation.
It receives no direct central government funding and surf lifesaving clubs rely on NZ Lottery Grants Board Funding, Gaming Machine Grants, local Community Trust grants and sponsorship to buy club equipment and pay for the running costs.

Whangārei Heads Surf Lifesaving Patrol is one of 17 Clubs in the Northern Region.

The Patrol at Ocean Beach has a wide and varied Surf Lifesaving programme.
Age is no barrier,  as we cater from age 4 up.
There are skills available for all,  from surf swimming, tube rescue training, radio operation, how to read rips, First Aid training, inflatable rescue boat skills (driving and crewing), paddle boards and surf ski skills among many.

Want to be part of a successful, and fun, volunteer organisation?
Here at WHVSLSP we focus on keeping the beach going public safe, while being able to enjoy the beach. Our clubs emphasizes friendship, team spirit, skills training and community involvement. We develop leadership skills, through courses and camps that are funded by the club. We  also encourage involvement in surf lifesaving and non-surf lifesaving competition, many of our guards are active sports people at local, regional and international level.
There are also opportunities to work as Paid Guards over summer.
Surf Lifesaving qualifications are NZQA accredited and accepted world wide.
